The REAL world- College style

Wow, this is my first blog; I've never done this before. Power to freedom of speech. But I digress. I never saw myself doing this, and yet, I never saw myself wearing braces for over 8years. But I re-digress.
I, Brittany Nicole Sweeney, have officially been in college for almost 3 years, and what a journey it has been. Aside from the laughter and tears, it is not what I expected. You make friends one semester and then never see them again, (ok, so there's facebook, but really?) It all really brings on a great moment of reflection, one where I look back and say how the heck did I survive? I don't think anyone has ever really taken the time to talk about college life, or I have never seen it. All they show is the drinking and the getting of chicks, neither of which I am inclined to do.
So, I have decided to put my own little spin on the college experience. Here are a few things I have noticed:
1. Absolutely no privacy. As my friend says, you can't even fart without the whole world (of college) knowing about it. I daresay she has a point. So, just realize, gossiping has its limits; talk about someone and they'll eventually here it. And doesn't everyone love unnecessary drama?
2. Fools gold- To a kid in college, and quarter found is a quarter adored, and people better friggin keep their hands off it! These things are the lifeline in the magical land of the laundry room. One short, and you are screwed, my friend. A good way to say it is keep your friends close and your quarters closer.
4. Studying- Wait, what is that? Oh, I think it's what we are supposed to do but no one does. I am supposed to be doing it now, and to avoid such hideous behavior, I actually created this blog! We don't do it if we can avoid it; it's boring, time consuming, and is devoid of anything interesting. Things to do instead: watch paint dry, initiate an argument with a roommate who annoys you, go door-to-door asking people to borrow things you don't need, have a marathon scrubbing the toilet contest... the list goes on.
5. Finally, though not really... People- This plays back into number 1 a little bit. People can be a real trial. They borrow your crap without permission, don't do the dishes on their day, and leave their crap all over the place, generally where it doesn't' belong. How to cope? Summer, summer, summer! It is a chant of hope to many of us, I'd guess. All of us college goers seem to have this issue, and none of us are to blame. Typical, typical. I've just started to blame the real culprit- nobody.
There are defiantly ups and certainly downs to this whole college thing. After it, I have to get a "real" job and interact with the "real" world. What does that mean? I don't think anyone knows. But I think I am, in some small way, preparing for it now. All I can do is smile my way through, enjoy what comes my way, and hope for the best.
